about five star dive:

In 2006 singer/songwriter/frontman Mark Scheer decided to ask his old friends from his sorted musical past Darryl Thumm, Rocky Lamonde and Vinnie Q to record again. This time at Mark’s home studio. “I was basically going through some old live tapes and came across a bunch of songs that we played maybe once or twice... and they were really good. We had never gave them a “proper” recording and decided now would be a good time.”

What was originally intended for fun and a casual get-together between friends resulted in the formation of Five Star Dive and their new disc “All the Time in the World”. As Rocky recalls, “It came out too good NOT to release”. Vinnie concurs, “It was a cohesive bunch of songs and we wanted to do them live”. Five Star Dive was therefore built to play live music with all the rawness and energy that came from the original recordings.

As most bands will attest, finding a good drummer is like searching for weapons of mass destruction… they’re rarely found. Short of calling in the U.N., Mark decided to call in his brother, Mike Scheer, who was in the Rolling Stones tribute band, Jumpin’ Jack Flash ( www.jumpinjackflash.com ). This turned out to be a good decision as Mike highly recommended drummer Mike Oncea. Oncea immediately fit in with the other members of the band, and the line-up of Five Star Dive was complete.

Oncea’s arrival energized the band and new material quickly followed. Songs such as “Crazy For You”, “In The Wrong Lane”, “Roland Connector” and “Johnny on a Jet” have become smoking new live favorites among the boys in Five Star Dive. The band is so pumped that in February 2008 they entered the studio to begin recording these and other new tunes scheduled for a late 2008 release. In the meantime, everyone is hard at work promoting "All the Time in the World" at the live shows.

Five Star Dive is one of the most engaging, charismatic bands on the circuit today. Their live shows are not to be missed.

So all that is left to say is, Check yourself into the Five Star Dive and enjoy your stay! ~the management
